Lachenalia 'Crimson Joy' may be a hybrid of L. bulbifera, as could be L. 'Scarlet Bloom'.

It is difficult to surmise relationships in plants of such close appearance without raising possible hybrid combinations or studying L. bulbifera in its natural habitat in the wild. They all have plain darkish green leaves with no markings. L.'Crimson Joy' is slow to build up, which is typical of some of the hybrids produced by crossing L. aloides and L. reflexa.
